National Financial Support for Czech SMEs

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TACR) has opened a new possibility for financing of excellent projects of Czech small and medium size enterprises (SMEs).  For applications submitted into the very competitive Horizon 2020 (H2020) SME Instrument, which are evaluated as high quality projects but due to a limited funding can not be financed, European Commission issues so called Seal of Excellence certificate.  Through its GAMA programme – subprogramme 2, TACR will support projects, which received this Seal of Excellence under Phase 1 of the SME instrument. The first call for submission of applications opened on 20 March 2017. Czech SMEs which submitted their application into the February SME Instrument cut-off and received the Seal of Excellence certificate will have chance to apply for the Czech national funding until 2 May 2017.

While on the national level this option to finance recipients of the Seal of Excellence certificate is utilized by 16 EU member states, on the regional level it is only by 9 states. In the Czech Republic, up until recently, only SMEs headquartered in the South Moravian Region were able to receive such support.
