A look back at Graphene Week in Prague!

October 23
The 19th edition of Europe’s longest running Graphene and 2D Materials conference took place in Prague, offering a packed programme covering the most recent developments in graphene science and technology.
Check out our highlights:

A dedicated session on Diversity, led by Patrik Johansson, was held on the 15th of October. This emphasized the importance of diversity in research. Ilaria Meazzini from Royal Society of Chemistry highlighted the challenges disabled scientists face and the benefits they bring, such as creativity and attention to detail. She stressed that science should be accessible to all and advocated for inclusivity as a universal standard. The session also underscored the need to support underrepresented groups and foster gender balance to create truly collaborative research environments.

Our project Next-2Digits also hosted a Parallel session on the 16th of October, in which 7 speakers presented their results on various topics:

  • Graphene integration in electronics and photonics
  • 2D material fabrication methods
  • Advanced material characterization techniques
  • Innovative applications of graphene

As Prague is also home to Amires, our DeepTech team had the opportunity to host a session within the Innovation Forum on Czech Innovation Landscape around 2D Materials, exploring the latest graphene innovations and start-up successes.

Our esteemed speakers shared their expertise and success stories, highlighting the commercialization challenges and opportunities in the field of 2D materials:

  • Ivano Aglietto from GrapheneUP spoke about “Graphene’s Market Impact: How Few-Layer Graphene is Transforming the Products We Use.”
  • Martin Kalbáč from the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry spoke about “Successes and Challenges in Transferring Technology in the 2D and Graphene Domain.”
  • Martin Bunček from the Technology Agency of Czech Republic represented the “Public Support of Technology Transfer in the Czech Republic.”

Focused on local industry and R&D representatives, this session allowed the audience to connect with key players in the Czech advanced materials sector and showcased the vibrant ecosystem in the Czech Republic, fostering valuable discussions on the future of graphene production and applications.

Thank you to all the speakers and participants for making this event a memorable one!
