European Consortium to Revolutionise Health Monitoring with Advanced Wearable Technology

September 19

[Athens, Greece – September 19, 2024] We are thrilled to announce the launch of the UltraSense project, a groundbreaking initiative set to revolutionise health monitoring and lifestyle management. With obesity and overweight prevalence in Europe reaching alarming levels, our innovative stretchable multi-sensing platform aims to provide comprehensive body composition analysis and decentralised health monitoring.

Key Features of UltraSense:

  • Ultra-sound compartment: Delivers accurate information about body composition and tissue thickness.
  • Bioimpedance compartment: Measures fat, water, and muscle percentage quickly and reliably.
  • G-FET biosensor compartment: Retrieves biomarkers through sweat analysis with atto-molar sensitivity.

Innovative Use Cases:

  1. Promoting a Healthier Lifestyle through Sport: Monitoring the overall health of exercised individuals to improve compliance and outcomes.
  2. Early Detection and Continuous Monitoring of Metabolic Syndrome (MetSyn): Providing valuable data for personalised clinical management and urgent health alerts.

Sustainability and Economic Impact: UltraSense is committed to sustainability, with green and circular material synthesis approaches expected to reduce CO2 emissions by over 70%. We anticipate significant societal and economic benefits, including selling 700,000 devices annually by 2032, generating €105 million in revenue and creating 20 new jobs.

About UltraSense: This four-year project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme and supported by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), involves ten public and private organisations across Europe. POLAR will lead the commercialisation efforts, and the technology will be validated at Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL6).

We extend our gratitude to the National Technical University of Athens and the Project Coordinator, Prof. Ioanna Zergioti, for hosting the Kick-off meeting in Athens and offering a networking event to establish a collaborative environment right from the start with all partners.

Stay tuned for more updates as we work towards a healthier future!
