PANCAIM M45 Meeting in Glasgow: Clinical Validation and Future Plans for AI in Pancreatic Cancer
September 2From 2-3 September 2024, PANCAIM consortium met in Glasgow for the M45 project meeting!
As the ambitious project is slowly approaching its final months, the team took stock of the collected multimodal data and cutting-edge AI models which have been developed to assist clinicians in diagnosing and treating pancreatic cancer. In order to make real-life impact in the highly regulated field of healthcare, through validation of developed AI applications is crucial to ensure that they are reliable with a low error rate and demonstrated clinical utility. This will be the priority during the next few months, along with the strategic discussions about potential follow-up activities to ensure the sustainability of our efforts beyond the funded period.
During the 2 days the consortium discussed, among other things, updates from Work Package and Task Leaders on progress achieved and challenges encountered, the definition of a clear workplan for future deliverables and activities and collective brainstorming on open and undecided questions. We are proud that the multimodal, multicenter data repository is continuously growing while several cutting-edge AI models have been developed by project partners. Several papers and manuscripts are under preparation to present the results to the scientific community. Selected promising AI applications will now transition into the validation stage in retrospective “real life” clinical settings.
AMIRES proudly supports the project management and coordination, as well as dissemination activities of PANCAIM and contributes to discussions on exploitation of results and definition of overall priorities.
Of course, we also had some time for networking and informal collaboration during our coffee breaks and traditional Scottish dinner. Thanks to University of Glasgow for hosting the meeting, and all partners for joining us, both in person and online!
